Volunteering at WAA
WAA Committees are established to assist in the governance of WAA. They represent, involve and serve members while providing a framework for education future leaders in the association. They promote member participation in problem solving and provide a forum for the many interests within the association, utilizing the experience, knowledge and skills of our members. Each committee focuses on a single area, discusses relevant issues and present action items to the Board of Directors.
Education Committee:
The Education Committee is dedicated to creating seminars and designation classes that will provide both financial and educational value for the members that attend. This committee will develop, deliver, and monitor seminars and workshops to address ongoing training and regulatory certification of the industry.
This committee meets on the 4th Thursday of the month @ 2 pm.
Governance Committee:
This committee, through collaboration, and in line with State and National Requirements, has the responsibility of updating and creating Policy & Procedure as well as Bylaws for our Association.
This committee meets on the 2nd Thursday of the month @ 4 pm.
Government Affairs Committee:
Through collaboration, education, and commitment to AANC & NAA PAC, represent the interests of the residential property management industry and communicate those interests to members, the public, and elected officials. Deliberate over legislative issues impacting the rental property management industry, assist the WAA Board with crafting WAA’s position, and propose legislative agendas to the Board of Directors.
This committee meets on the 3rd Tuesday of the month @ 3:30 pm.
Membership Committee:
This committee has the responsibility of increasing and maintaining the membership of the WAA. They also serve as the first point of contact to new members.
This committee meets on the 4th Tuesday of the month @ 10 am.
NextGen Committee:
NextGen focuses on building future leaders. They are preparing the apartment professionals that are new to the industry for volunteer leadership. They focus on career development, networking, education, volunteerism and community service.
This committee meets on the 4th Friday of the month @ 11:30 am.
Product and Services Committee:
This committee serves as a committee for our supplier partner and vendor members. They focus on increasing supplier partner participation in WAA events, providing support as needed for WAA events, coordinating and hosting Maintenance Mania, Maintenance Appreciation and WAA Trade Show. In addition, this committee generates the annual Vendor Sponsorship Program.
This committee meets on the 3rd Friday of the month @ 9 am.
Programs Committee:
This committee researches and schedules programs for the monthly membership meetings. Its goal is to secure a range of engaging speakers and to present subjects that will appeal to our diverse membership. They also host a wide array of networking events throughout the year. These events are created to be a platform for networking and camaraderie. They focus on dinner meetings and various evening events throughout the year. They also plan the WAA Raffle each year.
This committee meets on the 3rd Thursday of the Month @ 11 am.
Special Projects Committee:
This committee is dedicated to special events at WAA. This committee is focused on WAA Crest Awards and the Annual Golf Tournament. They make the arrangements for the venues and the planning of the events from the day of the event to any preplanning that is needed. They also focus on the sponsorships needed for the events.
This committee meets on the 2nd Thursday of the Month @ 10 am.
